Insights Reports - Observation Progress Report

Remember that different states and districts have different evaluation processes and naming conventions. The information presented below reflects a range of processes and activity names, which may differ from your district's implementation. While the selections and processes displayed to you may vary from those shown below, the basic reviewing and filtering functions will be consistent across organizations.

The Observation Progress Report provides administrators a comprehensive view about progress within the organization’s evaluation cycle. Use the report to understand the organization's status in completing observations and then drill down to see how each learner or observer is progressing in their evaluation cycle.

Please note that Insights Reports update nightly, so you will see changes to your data the following day.

School Year Filter

Use the school year filter to display specific school year or multiple years' data.

To change the filter year:

  1. Remove the current school year tile by clicking the x on the left.
  2. Click in the blank part of the field to display school year tiles.
  3. Click on the school year tile you wish to display.

Note: Removing the old school year first, before choosing a new school year, speeds the process.

Helpful Hint: The dates that display are defined by the first and last scheduled dates across all of the district's (or school's) activities for the school year. So, if the first scheduled activity of the school year is a goal-setting conference on August 1, 2015, that is the first displayed date. If the last scheduled event is a follow-up conference on February 2, 2016, that is the last date of the range. The date range is dynamic and changes as activities are scheduled.

Aggregated Observation Progress: Organization-level

Report Data Overview

The report's upper dashboard displays aggregate data across the district or organization for users who have access at an organization or district-level, such as Superintendents or Assistant Superintendents. Individual site or school-level data displays in a pane below. The table below describes what the different data elements tell you about your organization's progress.

Users who access school-level data see only their school's data in the upper and lower panes. Please scroll down to Aggregated Observation Progress: School Level for instructions on viewing site-level data.

Total number of learners

Number of learners with "x" observations completed

The total number of learners in the organization displays at the top.

The doughnut chart displays a breakdown of how many learners have a specified number of completed observations.

  • Use the chart legend to match the color-coded number of observations completed to the doughnut's wedges.
  • Hover on a chart wedge to view the total number of learners who have the specified number of completed observations.

Total number of observations

Number of completed observations by template

The total number of completed observations displays at the top.

The bar graph displays the number of completed observations by template, so you can see at-a-glance the ratio of completed observations.

The labels under each bar display the template type and its total number of observations marked as complete.

Aggregated Observation Progress: School Level

Report Data Overview

The report's lower dashboard displays site-level observation progress data. The site level (school) report mirrors the data displayed at the org level, but lets you view observation details and monitor observation progress for individual learners.

The table below describes what the different data elements tell you about a school's progress.

Total number of school learners

Number of learners with "x" completed observations

The total number of learners in the school displays under the chart.

A breakdown of how many school learners have a specified number of completed observations displays in the doughnut chart.

  • Use the chart legend to match the color-coded number of observations completed to the doughnut's wedges.
  • Hover on a chart wedge to view the total number of learners who have the specified number of completed observations.

Total number of school observations

Number of completed observations by template

The total number of observations marked as complete displays at the top.

The stacked bar chart displays the number of completed observations by template, so you can see at-a-glance the ratio of completed observations.

The labels under the chart display the template type and its total number of observations marked as complete.

Display a School's Details

Click the Show details button to display a table of the school's learners and their scheduled and completed observations, grouped by rubric.

School Observers
legend

Each observer in the school has a uniquely colored square.

To view all of a school's observers, click + more on the right.

Observation status

Completed observations display a solid, color-coded (by observer) square.

Scheduled, incomplete observations display a hollow, color-coded (by observer) square.

Hover over a square to view the observer and scheduled date.

Filtering Report Results

Insights Reports allow you to filter by six categories: Rubrics, Activities, Observers, Learners, Schools and Date Range.

You may layer filters by choosing filters from different categories to narrow your report results. When you select an additional filter from another category, you should see fewer results. If your report yields no results, review your selections and remove some of the filters.

  1. Click the field you wish to filter by.
  2. If you want to display results for just a few selections, you may want to first click Uncheck All to deselect all items.

  1. Scroll to find the items you want to include in filter results, or enter the item's name in the search field.
  2. Click items to select them.
  3. Click on the field again or anywhere outside of the filter field to activate the filter.

Helpful Hint: When you choose multiple options from the same filter category, the system displays results from each of your selected criteria. For example, if you choose rubrics A, B and C, learner observations from each of those rubrics will display.

A message displays while the report is generating.
