SLOs: Learner FAQs

Q: Can I edit my SLO after it's been approved?
A: If you and your observer agree that changes are needed on your SLO, ask your observer to unlock it for editing. After editing, you will need to re-submit your SLO for approval and your observer will need to re-approve it.
Q: How can I unlock an SLO? I need to make changes to my submitted SLO, but it is locked.
A: A submitted SLO is locked for editing, but you can ask your observer to unlock it and enable editing.
Q: How do I start an SLO? My observer has not scheduled the activity yet.
A:

You can navigate to the SLO before an activity is scheduled by first clicking the blank goal note at the bottom of your home page to open the Goal Planning page. The Goal Planning page displays a link to your SLOs. You can find more detailed navigation instructions, including images, in our support article below.

Q: How do I save my SLO?
A:

You can save an SLO at any time during the creation and editing phase. The Save this SLO button is located underneath the Ratings boxes. You may need to scroll to see the button. If you created more than one assessment in your SLO, remember to save all assessments you have created or modified.

Q: How do I add an additional SLO to the page?
A: Click the Add another SLO link under the Save button to open a new SLO form. For more detailed information, see our support article Adding and Managing SLOs.
Q: What should the weighting be for each SLO?
A:

If an SLO (Student Learning Objectives) is based on a single assessment, then that assessment accounts for 100% of the SLO. The software sets the weight at 100%.

If you are using more than one assessment for an SLO, then you and your evaluator must determine the weight for each assessment associated with that SLO. Remember that the weights of the assessments for an individual SLO must add to 100%. You may use the weight slider or keyboard input fields to adjust the weights.

Q: How do I delete an SLO?
A:

Return to your SLO and click Remove this SLO in the upper right of the SLO. For more detailed instructions, with screenshots, see Adding and Managing SLOs.

If your SLO has been submitted for approval, you will need to ask your observer to unlock it and enable editing.
